Certified Masseur and Balneotherapist
specialising in Wellness & Medical Wellness

A vocational training course at the Institute of Massage

Masseurs and balneotherapists use physiotherapeutic techniques on sick or disabled as well as on healthy people. Massage is a stimulus for regulatory mechanisms within the body: tension becomes relaxation, muscles are strengthened, nerves are calmed, hormones are activated. Not only do masseurs and balneotherapists massage the body, they also use other forms of therapy such as movement therapy, electrotherapy, hydrotherapy or thermotherapy.

Vocational training

The course takes two years and starts on 1 October each year. After the examination you will be a "Staatlich geprüfte/r Masseur and Balneologist" (Certified Masseur and Balneotherapist). The certificate will be handed over to you after another 6 months of work experience.

Entry requirements

• Hauptschulabschluss (roughly equivalent to British GCSEs)
• Birth certificate
• Health certificate
• Certificate of conduct

Course content

Fields of comprehensive and responsible application of massage are orthopaedics, surgery, inner medicine, sports physiotherapy and wellness.

You will acquire wide knowledge in

Fortbildungszertifikate

Jede Bahandlungsform aus dem Bereich Wellness und Medical Wellness wird Ihnen nach dem jeweiligen Abschluss innerhalb der Ausbildung gesondert zertifiziert und nach dem Staatsexamen zum/r Staatlich geprüften Masseur/in und med. Bademeister/in erhalten Sie das zusätzliche Gesamtzertifikat Medical Wellness.

Preparatory course for the examination in physiotherapy for Certified Masseurs and Balneotherapists

This 18-months full-time course is for Certified Masseurs and Balneotherapists in preparation for the Certified Physiotherapist exam and takes place at the Präha Educational Centre in Kerpen.

The next course starts in October 2009. The cost amounts to € 450,- per month. "BAföG" can be applied for.

Verkürzte Weiterbildung zum/r Geprüften Wellnesstherapeut/in

Für Inhaber/innen des Zertifikates Medical Wellness besteht die Möglichkeit, die Weiterbildung zum/r Geprüften Wellnesstherapeut/in verkürzt auf 5 Module (Ayurveda-Massagen, Fitness/Ernährung, Klangschalen- und Schokomassage, Theoretische Grundlagen, Kommunikation/Dienstleistungsmanagement) zu erlangen.
